Monthly Makaton Mondays

Once a month, the Ure Museum selects an object in the gallery to bring to life using Makaton.

Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. Makaton is for everyone: children, adults, young and old. It is a way to increase understanding and access to information for everyone.

We hope you enjoy the retelling of the stories of the objects through these short videos.

April 2024: Let’s Dance!

Now that spring is here, we’re getting up and getting moving with this fabulous pot, made around 2500 years ago, showing a troupe of dancers.

This favourite pot was also brought to life as part of the Panoply Vase Animation project; you can see the dancers throw some very cool shapes here.

March 2024: International Women’s Day

The focus is on the Amazons, a community of independent women who featured in many Greek myths and epic poems.
