Ure, Percy Neville
Date: early 20th CExtent: The Ure Museum holds artefacts collected by Percy Ure, as well as his personal research notes and journals, and diaries and photographs from the Rhitsona excavations.
Percy Ure was Professor of Classics at University of Reading and co-founder of the Ure Museum. Having graduated from Cambridge, he was lecturer at the University of South Monmouthshire (Cardiff) and Leeds before being appointed to the Professorship at Reading in 1910. With Ronald Burrows he excavated at Rhitsona, Greece 1907-14, and returned to excavate the site with his wife Annie Dunman (Hunt) Ure in 1921-22.
