Ancient lamp Adventures for Families! Join us at the Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology
Come and visit our new exhibition, LIGHTING THE DARK: OIL LAMPS. Then read Aesop’s fable about the boastful oil lamp and take part in our crafts and games.

- Make and take papercraft. Make an oil lamp model.
- Colouring Station. Colour in an ancient lamp outline.
- Hunt for ancient lamps – Can you search the museum and find the lamps?
- Ancient lamp game. Collect a bowl, fuel and a wick to win
Special Timed Activities – Tuesday 26th May 2026
Object Handling Sessions Listen to the fable then touch and explore real artefacts from ancient times! Sessions at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM (each lasting 30 minutes)
