The Ure Museum has always attracted scholars of the arts of Greece, especially ceramics, and their archaeological and social contexts. The Museum’s collection includes modern art that draws on classical themes and places, including works by Allen Seaby and Eric Stanford. This is an area of developing interest for the Museum, as with the Ure family’s generous donation of a bronze bust of our founder, Prof. Percy Ure, which encouraged us to launch our sculpture trail, Beyond the Ure.
