Pearce, Cyril C.

As a student at the University College Reading, Cyril Pearce studied under Allen W. Seaby. He would himself become a lecturer in the Design and Composition in the Fine Art Department from 1911 to 1948. Affectionately known as Mr. Chips by students, Pearce had been associated with the University for over thirty-seven years on his retirement.

As a member of the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), he exhibited 85 paintings between the years 1914-1938, including one at the International Society and one at the Royal Academy in London.

The University Art Collection holds several paintings and prints by Cyril Pearce, on a variety of subjects.
