Originally managed by various departments across the University, the University Art Collection was centralised and became part of the University Museums and Special Collections Service (UMASCS) in 2015.

Reflecting institutional history and several intermittent acquisition initiatives, the Collection is a rich and eclectic mix of pieces; combining important artworks by internationally known artists, former staff and students, and little known amateur artists.

In 2020, our status was formally recognised through the establishment of the Art Study Room on the London Road Campus; a dedicated space for engaging with the Collection.

Today, the University Art Collection’s team works to showcase this unique collection to a wide range of people and communities.
