Covering everything from how to navigate collections to how to teach with them, this programme of in-person and virtual events introduces PhD students from any institution to collections-based research.

About this event

Develop close reading and questioning techniques to investigate art, archive, library and museum collections.

In hands-on sessions, develop your close reading and questioning techniques to the University of Reading’s archives, objects, artworks and rare books. This session will be taught by experienced professionals from the museum, library and archive sector. 

By the end of this session, you will: 

  • Understand theoretical approaches to reading objects 
  • Have a framework for approaching object analysis
