University of Reading Centenary Mural

Commissioned to mark the centenary of the University of Reading, this mural celebrates 100 years since the institution received its Royal Charter in 1926. Created for the Whiteknights campus, it reflects a century of learning, research and community, bringing together past achievements, present life, and future ambitions. Developed in collaboration with students, staff and local communities, the artwork transforms a public space into a focal point for shared stories — inviting viewers to reflect on the University’s history and it’s ongoing role in shaping a better future.

The new artwork, which can be seen on the side of the Edith Morley Building from the central quad, brings together stories and memories contributed by staff, students and alumni. It was made possible through the Centenary Project Grant Scheme and painted during the first two weeks of March 2026.
