A leading advocate of abstract art and a now recognised figure of the British art establishment, Sir Terry Frost, became an artist in his 30s. Studying at Birmingham College of Art, Camberwell School of Art and St. Ives School of Painting, Frost painted his first abstract work in 1949.

A prolific talent Frost additionally taught throughout his career. First at Bath Academy of Art, Coventry Art College and the University of Leeds; then in the 1960s and 70s, he was an Artist in Residence, and later Professor of Painting at the University of Reading. Throughout this period he donated artworks to the University Art Collection. These are all in his signature geometric style of overlapping half-circles, rectangles, as well as squares of bright colours.

The University Art Collection holds six abstract prints by Sir Terry Frost.
