The University Art Collection is part of University Museums and Special Collections Services (UMASCS), which brings together art, museums, archives and rare books.
Founded in the earliest days of the University of Reading through various acquisition initiatives and reflecting the institution’s history, the Collection is a mix of pieces; combining important artworks by internationally known artists, former staff and students, and little known amateur artists.
Today, the University Art Collection’s team works to showcase this unique collection to a wide range of people and communities. Based on Redlands Road in a Grade II listed building, the Collection has a dedicated Art Study Room in the former St Andrews Hall. This building. originally designed by Sir Alfred Waterhouse, is also the home of the Museum of English Rural Life and the University’s Special Collections.
