Responsibilities and research interests

Isabel Hughes is Associate Director of the Museum of English Rural Life and Head of Curatorial and Public Engagement.  During her career she has held both curatorial and museum learning focused posts at The Livesey Museum, The Royal Armouries and Hampshire County Museums Service, worked for a sector policy body as Head of Access & Learning for the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council South East, and as a consultant.  She has extensive experience of planning and project managing display and interpretation projects and served for many years as a National Lottery Heritage Fund adviser and mentor, supporting a range of museums and sites in identifying their target audiences and developing and delivering funded redisplay and engagement projects.
