UPDATE: SPECIAL COLLECTIONS READING ROOM NOW OPEN TO ALL RESEARCHERS

In line with the latest Government announcement that Reading will enter Tier 2 at the end of the national lockdown, the reading room will be open to all researchers from Wednesday 2 December 2020. The Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) will also reopen on 2 December.

Please note that we can only accept reading room bookings in advance. If you would like to make a booking, please ensure that you read the updated guidance before contacting us as we have made a number of changes to our service. You can find out more about our collections through our Special Collections website.

Our reading room is currently operating with reduced opening hours:

Tuesday-Thursday: 9.30am-12.30pm, 1.30pm-4.00pm (we close for an hour at lunch).
(Closed Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
