The Cole Museum is accessible to a wide range of visitors and we always strive to meet the access needs of everyone who visits us. If you have a specific need which you would like to ask us about, please contact us.
Accessibility
- The museum is a single-level space, entirely on the ground floor, and includes a step-free entrance with automatic door
- Four accessible spaces for visitor parking, close to the front of the museum
- One wheelchair-accessible toilet, which also serves as a gender-neutral space and includes a baby-changing unit
- An additional toilet with a hoist is available, but a member of staff is required to access this area of the building
- There are semi-accessible toilets in the main blocks – these are not large enough for access by wheelchair, but they have grab rails on either side of the cubicle
- Assistance animals are always welcome
- The Cole Museum is in the centre of a three-storey atrium, which can be noisy
- None of the exhibits play sound (there are no interactive games or video displays in the museum)
- There is no hearing loop in the museum space
- Light levels are variable
