Lettering, Printing and Graphic Design Collections

Since the 1970s, Typography at Reading has built up internationally authoritative collections and archives relating to lettering, printing and graphic design.

The collection’s strengths and materials are exceptional and diverse. Instances of lettering and type are held from almost every period in the historic record, from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs through to digital ephemera today.

The three main forms of printing (relief, intaglio and planographic) are available to explore through an extensive choice of presses, tools, blocks and plates.

The collection holds archives of nationally important design companies and acclaimed individual designers.
