First translated in the 1940s, today Ladybird Books can be found in over 70 languages! From Afrikaans to Zulu, and from Swedish to Samoan, children across the world have enjoyed and learnt with Ladybird. Going Global brings together these translated books and original artworks to reveal how the adaptions reflect cultural diversity and wider events from international history. Â
Showcased in the Ladybird Gallery, this exhibition traces how Ladybird Books were altered for audiences as diverse as Arabic, Welsh, and Caribbean. Displayed together, new light is shed upon the importance and reach of Ladybird Books beyond the UK.Â
