Floating Garden: Public Art Pages

Floating Garden sculpture in front of the URS building on the Whiteknights Campus

The University Art Collection website has a series of new pages dedicated to public art projects across the University.

Over the summer, artist-duo Ben Cain and Tina Gverović installed the sculpture Floating Garden in the new library quad on the Whiteknights campus. Inspired by the University’s history, research interests and communities, it responds to the theme of ‘library’.

Ben and Tina are internationally recognised artists with 20 years’ experience of commissions, including Croatian Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale, Busan Biennale (South Korea), Wiels (Brussels), Tate Modern, Manifesta 09 (Genk, Belgium).

The sculpture is one of a number of ongoing Public Art initiatives at the University that seek to develop relationships between colleagues, students, the local community and local and international artists, enabling the University to act as a cultural leader in the region.
